another issue is that things that works for Echo Show/Spot with a screen does not work on normal Echo. I can detect this so Should I just let the user know this? Not sure where to find this info. I'm building a skill specifically for the Show.
What do you mean by "should I just let the user know this?" The end skill user or the tester for the competition? For purposes of the competition, you will have selected your skill is built for the Show when filling out the submission form so we'll know how to try it out.
No this is for the end user. Maybe this is better for the forum but functions that work for Echo Show (using the rich screen) gives an error for normal Echo. But I believe you cannot only build for ES but must also work on regular Echo. Is this true?
